Lot 3019 FINE ULRICH ENGRAVED WINCHESTER 1866 CARBINE.

Cal 44. S# 132675. Standard configuration, 20" barrel, 2 lines "Kings Improvement" address, two position adjustable sight, full nickel plating and distinctive Ulrich floral scroll engraving with well rendered vignette of an antlered deer.Ulrich family engraving style is shown in Larry Wilson's Winchester engraving book and virtually identical elements are found on John Ulrich and Conrad Ulrich 66s or 73s made 1877-1879 including nickel plating. Serial number 132675 for 1877 is engraved on lower rear tang. Lower tang internally on the left side is stamped "XX" for deluxe wood, along with assembly number "59" which is also found internally on butt plate and top tang channel of nicely figured walnut stock, both stock and butt plate have a purposely factory obliterated different serial number with the assembly number 59 stamped adjacent. This is an attractive nice condition honest unmolested Ulrich engraved deluxe nickel 66 carbine. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: factory letter confirming factory engraving and nickel. Copies of pertinent pages from Larry Wilson's Winchester engraving book showing John and Conrad Ulrich engraving elements approving attribution. CONDITION: fine overall, frame retains over 90% original nickel; lever, barrel, magazine, & barrel bands retain about 80% scuffed nickel with scattered cosmetic blemishes. Barrel address has about 1/2" dented/scratched area. Stock is sound, well fit, small screwed escutcheon plate on belly. Mechanics are fine, good rifled bore. (01-26421/JS). ANTIQUE. $20,000-30,000.
